Manufactured in Switzerland by the Roamer Watch Company in the 1920's, this is a very rare, collectible vintage men's watch in very good condition for its age!

It features a fancy engraved rolled silver plate LaSalle case that measures 1" X 1 1/4", excluding crown and lugs, that surrounds a textured art deco silver dial that contrasts beautifully against black outlined Poire squelette hour and minute hands, raised luminescent numbers, black inner chapter, and subsecond dial at 6 o'clock.

The dial is in very nice condition, the crystal is clear and bright, and the authentic Swiss 7 jewel, manual wind movement, signed Roamer, sets and winds smoothly, is running well and keeping very good time.

It is matched with a vintage scissor expansion bracelet and, yes, it does show some wear from almost 100 years of service, but it is a cherished reminder of a time long ago.

    About the Brand:

Roamer is a Swiss manufacturer, founded by Fritz Meyer in 1888.

Meyer made cylinder escapements for clocks and watches for a time, but then in 1904, Meyer decided to go into watch making.

In 1905 he collaborated with Johann Studeli to form the company Meyer and Studeli. By the time 1923 came, the company was producing around 1 million watches a year, sold under the name of Roamer, the name which they still keep today.

Roamer also sold a few watches under the names of Medana and Meda. The company was ever expanding, and in 1932 Roamer started its own dial production line.

The demand for Roamer watches was increasing because everyone wanted a piece of the affordable quality that the makers had achieved, and in 1945, Roamer opened a New York office just after the Second World War.

In 1955 Roamer patented the Anfibio watertight watch case, which proved a technological and financial success.

Up until 1972, all Roamers had been hand winding, but in 1972 they released their first quartz battery model to keep up with the ever changing watch market.

In 2003, Roamer changed from making quartz battery models to their roots, and started producing high quality luxury mechanical watches.
