Although I have had the rare pleasure to offer quality Langendorf (LANCO) vintage timepieces in the past this it the first Lancet I have ever seen!!

From the 1940's this was probably a man's watch as they tended to be much smaller than today but, as ladies' watches today are bigger, it could be certainly considered for both men and women, especially with only a 14mm lug width.

The 10K rolled gold case measures 1" X 1 1/16" across, excluding crown and lugs and surrounds a two-tone gold and silver dial complimented by gold hour and minute hands, raised gold numbers, a subsecond dial at 6 o'clock, and a raised gold and black outer chapter.

The Swiss, 7 jewel, manual wind movement sets and winds effortlessly, is running well and keeping good time.

It has a stainless steel, snap-down back, a bright new crystal, and new stitched leather strap with gold buckle.

    About the Brand:

In 1872 Johann Viktor Kottmann from Switzerland founded the Uhrenfabrik Langendorf SA in the city of Langendorf. From 1890, the main brand of the Langendorf Watch Company was “Langendorf”, but the company produced watches, movements (ebauches), dials, cases, etc that were sold under other brand names. These parts were sold to other watch factories in Switzerland and Germany. Complete watches (without and without case) were sold around the world. Urenfabrik Langendorf became the largest clock and watch(part) factory in the world near the end of the 19th century. They had about 100 different names registered for various parts and watches. Among these names are also Laco, Lancet, Erna, Ajax, Lonville (revived in the 2009) and Wodan.

In the 1913 The Lanco brand (LANgendorf watch COmpany) was registered. It became the most famous brand of the company.

When the name made it’s way to the dial, it was found there with in different styles and in with different logo’s. The Lanco star logo as shown below was registered in 1927 and shows on only a few watches. Mostly it is just a printed name. In 1962 the circle with “L” logo was registerd. It looks like a small clock.

The SIHH (Omega-Tissot group..before it became the Swatch-Group) bought the brand name in 1971. Again watches were produced under the Lanco name. And there was a much larger variety. It became a brand with room for innovation and experimentation. This resulted in cheaper watches and materials as well as cool designs including jump hour watches.
