Vintage men's 1940's WWII Swiss Avalon De Luxe 17J military wristwatch, running great!

This is an AVALON DE LUXE military wristwatch from the WWII era, 80+ years old, and still running well and keeping good time.

The chrome plated brass case measures 1.15" in diameter, excluding crown and lugs, and surrounds an evenly-aged parchment dial complimented by black leaf hour and minute hands, bold black Arabic numbers, and black outer chapter.

The 17 jewel Swiss, cal. N03 movement sets and winds as it should, is running strong and keeping very good time.

It has a screw-down case and is matched with a vintage stainless steel flex bracelet which suits it well.

Avalon watches have an interesting history. The brand was owned by the Banner Watch Company, which was established in 1918 by Louis Schein and Nathan Engel in New York City. Avalon watches were primarily produced from the mid-1920s through the 1950s.

These watches were often equipped with movements from well-known manufacturers like ETA and A. Schild. During the 1950s, Avalon watches were imported to the U.S. and sold through department stores and independent jewelers. They were known for being moderately priced Swiss watches, catering to the booming market at the time.
